A Note from the Artist: I love this piece for several reasons. I started it back in September of 2025 with the intention of setting out and documenting my drawing process only to leave it tucked behind my desk for just short of a year. Two weeks ago, I decided to pick it up and finish it.

     The result documented exactly what I had been hoping for. The top balloon was the first one I completed, the bottom red balloon the one I completed today. This drawing documents my progress made over the past ten months, and I have to admit I’m happy with how far I’ve come.

     The motivation for the balloons is a fairytale in and of itself. About a year ago was the first time I felt relief and aligned with the direction I wanted to head in with my life. A sense of purpose and alignment, able to lean more deeply into trust than fear. I asked for signs, heart shaped balloons. I started this drawing, tucked it away and in February one of my favorite artists shared her own showcase, a series of heart shaped balloons. This year has been challenging and full of unexpected changes and adjustments. The week before I picked up this drawing,my physical therapist had two heart shaped balloons tied to the knob as I opened the door to leave my session. My intention for the year was “alignment”, so despite the chaos, I know my life is recalibrating to help me bring in the dream I’ve never let go of.

     So, this piece shares a dream, progress and a symbol of the unwavering support I have cheering me on from the other side even when it feels cloudy. A reminder that there’s always a plan
